Eagle Hollow Furnishings

As some of you know, J.D. has his own log furniture business. It's definately a "side" job. We just use his talent of this when we need it. This summer, Jenny's brother ordered a bunk bed with a twin on top and a full on the bottom. This was the first bunk bed he's ever attempted! :) Here is a quick show of the process, which really has taken a bit longer since we haven't put full days of work into it.

After we get all the pieces stripped (which takes forever!!) and cut to length, J.D. uses a tenon cutter to cut each end so it will fit together like a puzzle....

After all the ends are tenon cut, and the holes are drilled, then we spend hours sanding. Then we put it together and bolt everything. Then we put finish on it. This is one side completely done.
Here it is!! It's all done! J.D. quickly put together the ladder (which doesn't have finish on in this pic, but you get the idea). Now, the ladder has a cool feature that you can't see. It's being held up by leather buckles! J.D. is very talented as you can see. He really loves working with wood, and it makes him feel so good to see how amazing the finishing product looks.
