I hate RSV...

I always knew RSV was a scary thing for an infant to get, but I had to idea what to expect. Friday the 13th, I took Dawson in to the doc because he had been so fussy and was starting to cough and I guess what seemed to be like the common cold, but I wanted to make sure it wasn't RSV. The not so nice nurse (I mentioned in an earlier post) just happened to be our nurse and swabbed Dawson for RSV... the test showed negative but he had an ear infection. So we had him on amoxicillin and went to Holden for the weekend. It seemed to just get worse and I thought, maybe its just dry air. We come home and i just had a feeling it was getting serious.. so on Thursday we took him in... the nice nurse swabbed this time and it usually take 15 min. to get results... within 2 MINUTES he was a positive.
(They had seen over 30 patients with RSV and sent 12 in to be hospitalized within 4 hours)
It just breaks my heart to hear him try and cry or talk. He can't hardly breathe and is just so horribly hoarse from coughing. I am constantly listening and making sure he can breathe. With his breathing treatments he broke out into what seemed to be an allergic reaction, but we will find out for sure if thats what it was. I guess its pretty rare to be allergic to the stuff.
He has been such a good baby through it all. I think me and J.D. are both coming down with colds too... it's been an adventurous week thats for sure. They say it lasts upto 21 days... poor little guy. It's hard because there isnt' much more you can do. Steamy bathroom, humidifier and tylenol when the temp. is about 102... I really hate RSV .
We have NO IDEA where he got it. we keep him from church, and social events, grocery store. If he does go with us we try to keep him covered... Plus most people that he's been around are very careful about being around if he's sick. Keep him in your prayers!

What a cute boy!

I took some fun pictures of Dawson in the past week and thought I would share them.

This is the step stool that he got from Uncle Jim and Aunt Bonnie.

This is our happy boy in his crib! :)

Here he is in the high-chair! He loved it because he had the table part holding him up so he could sit up.

A weekend in Holden

Our goal this year was to spend more time with family. So we decided we would make a trip at least once a month. We chose this weekend to go to Holden since all the rest of the family would be there too. We had such a good time! It is always a vacation when we go there, and so so relaxing!

This is Dawson's Great Grandma Stevens! She loves the grandkids so much. We didn't have a picture of Dawson and her yet, since she is 93 we decided to take as many as possible with her :)

Saturday night at about 10 was dinner... ahaha! We made pizzas! Here is Bobi Sue, Loni and Chet putting the toppings on! They were delicious!

This was so cute! Dawson's cousin Taylee is such a sweetheart to Dawson! She loved giving him his binky, and holding him. She would give him loves and kisses too! Dawson was lovin it!

Dawson would get pretty worn out with a new environment and new people. We brought down the swing and he just sat there and played and soon feel fast asleep!

Tall & Skinny

So yesterday we went to Dawson's 4 month appointment. Come to find out we have a tall skinny boy on our hands. We kept thinking and saying how long he was, and it was true..:) He is 26 1/2 inches long and is in the 85 percentile with height. His weight on the other hand was 14 lb 1 oz.. which is in the 31 percentile and a head in the 24th percentile. It reminds me of my dad who is tall and skinny and my mom's dad who is very tall and super skinny as well..
He had to get shots again, but he did so good for them. I think the nurse that gave him his shots this time was so much nicer and better than the last. He hardly cried! We watched how she gave them to him and she was so nice about it. The last nurse just shoved the needle in hard and his face went red red and he screamed. I hate nurses that work in pediatrics and are so mean and seem so heartless. :( Also last time Dawson threw up after getting the ROTA virus immunization (it's given orally) The nurse said it was probably just a fever or something. This time when he got the booster for it, he threw up immediately right after. The nurse this time felt so bad and held him and helped clean him up, let him calm down before she gave him shots, and then wrote down not to give him the immunization for that because he can't keep it down.
Anyways, he did really well and is growing so fast. He rolled over from back to tummy for the first time last night and he did it twice! Then J.D. got home from work and he was just rolling back and forth like crazy! haha! We are so blessed to have him! Even through sleepless nights it's crazy how we forget and just love them more and more.

Brain Clutter

Does anyone feel like they have brain clutter at the beginning of the new year?? I always have plans, and try to schedule things out for the year. We have to plan ahead or else things could get worse... anywho, I feel like I've been rushing around, make list after list of all the needs to get done. Yet, somehow things don't ever get done which really irritates me and makes me tense. It seems like when I get everything on my list done, there's another huge one to be made and get finished.... I'm just kind of venting because I'm feeling overwhelmed with all that needs to get done this semester even though I'm not going to school right now, we have plenty to get done for J.D. and dental school applying processes. I can't imagine how J.D.'s feeling... one way or another we will get through and make it all happen. It's kind of like planning your wedding. You stress up until the moment of saying I do and then it all just works out.
Updates on Dawson.. well the little man is just growing like no other! He can roll over from tummy to back, but not back to tummy yet... but it will happen soon, he's really close. He must be going through a growth spert because he is suckin me dry... lol! He is getting smarter each day. We love playing with him and showing him new toys that light up. He is able to grab things.. but once he gets it, he pulls it right into his mouth. He is scooting on his tummy slowly. He definitely doesn't end up in the same place we lay him down at. :) I just re-decorated his room so it fits with the log furniture. I will take pics when its done and post them. I just have the changing table left to do.
Hopefully it all comes together sooner than later!

Christmas Fun!

This year we spent Christmas with J.D.'s family in Holden. We had a blast! Christmas Eve Dawson sat on Santa's lap for the first time! It was so cute. We all definitely got spoiled!

I got to sit on Santa's lap with Parker again! :) Last year I had Parker sit with me because I was being a chicken... but you get a bit bag full of goodies... and I REALLY wanted one.
After a long week... me and Dawson just cuddled. :)

One thing Dawson got for Christmas was a Jordan onesie, beanie, and socks from our old boss, and very good friend Jill. She suprised us and sent it in the mail. player!player!
Dawson sitting with Aunt Loni and opening his new church outfit from mommy and daddy.
Here is Dawson's Christmas gifts from Grandma and Grandpa Stevens, Santa, and Mommy and Daddy. What a spoiled little boy!
After Holden, we came back to Cedar. My brother and his family drove over from Missouri and stayed with us while they were in town. They went in our backyard and built a sweet snow fort and had a snow fight! It was so awesome! This is just the beginning of the fort... It was HUGE! This is their kids, Jaidon, Mikinzie, and Chase!

This is the family photo Christmas Eve in Holden. Dawson is wearing his "baby's first Christmas' pj's. :) He looked so adorable

What a cute boy!

Dawson is getting so close to rolling over! It's crazy! He is holding his head so good, and just letting his strong muscles show! :) Here's a bit of his talking and tummy time.
