Christmas Fun!

This year we spent Christmas with J.D.'s family in Holden. We had a blast! Christmas Eve Dawson sat on Santa's lap for the first time! It was so cute. We all definitely got spoiled!

I got to sit on Santa's lap with Parker again! :) Last year I had Parker sit with me because I was being a chicken... but you get a bit bag full of goodies... and I REALLY wanted one.
After a long week... me and Dawson just cuddled. :)

One thing Dawson got for Christmas was a Jordan onesie, beanie, and socks from our old boss, and very good friend Jill. She suprised us and sent it in the mail. player!player!
Dawson sitting with Aunt Loni and opening his new church outfit from mommy and daddy.
Here is Dawson's Christmas gifts from Grandma and Grandpa Stevens, Santa, and Mommy and Daddy. What a spoiled little boy!
After Holden, we came back to Cedar. My brother and his family drove over from Missouri and stayed with us while they were in town. They went in our backyard and built a sweet snow fort and had a snow fight! It was so awesome! This is just the beginning of the fort... It was HUGE! This is their kids, Jaidon, Mikinzie, and Chase!

This is the family photo Christmas Eve in Holden. Dawson is wearing his "baby's first Christmas' pj's. :) He looked so adorable

What a cute boy!

Dawson is getting so close to rolling over! It's crazy! He is holding his head so good, and just letting his strong muscles show! :) Here's a bit of his talking and tummy time.

Our poor sick boy..:(

Sorry it's been so long... our internet went dow for a good week.. Anywho, a quick update until i have more time to post.
Since the 2 feet of freaking snow, we have had some sick people in our home. On Thursday Dawson seemed to have a bit of runny nose. . . On friday morning he was pretty snuffy and had a hard time breathing and eating.. Carson arrived at 9 and he was even more sick. He wouldn't eat, and all he wanted to do was be held, which was very difficult because Dawson was sick and he just wanted to be held... Carson's daddy picked him up at 3:30 and we took Dawson in to the Doctor. The doctor was sick too! So.. Dawson was just really congested but still was moving oxygen pretty well. no RSV thank goodness. I was getting a cold too and a way bad sore throat... not good when moms sick and the baby. Saturday morning Dawson could barely breathe...He was so fussy too because he was hungry, but he wouldn't eat because he couldn't breathe. So I said a little prayer and I immediately took Dawson into the shower and tried cleaning his nose out with the booger getter... and I had to stand there and nurse him... the next couple of feedings that was the only way he was able to breathe and eat. (Talk about being talented at nursing!) Finally his congestion started clearing. Ever since then its been humidifier, lots of tubby time, lots of booger getting, and a happier baby. :)
As for me, after I fed Dawson the first time in the shower, I had another thought for me to take some vitamins. I haven't been taking my prenatals since Dawson was born (which are 2 flinstones vitamins... :) thats all I could take while being sick and prego) So I took 2 flinstones and my sore throat went away, I have no cold anymore. Yay! Dawson is doing much better, still snuffy but not near as bad. I have disinfected my whole house and cleaned down to the nitty gritty corners, and have aired out our house to make it more germ free...
Winter time is so scary with a baby and being sick. . . Thank goodness for answered prayers right! :)

He's so cute!

This is one of the cutest candid moments yet. It just makes you smile when you look at him. He is always laughing, smiling, and talking so much! He is getting so big and getting a personality of his own for sure! It's definitely more rewarding each day to have him here!

Christmas is on it's way!

I love Christmas and am really excited for this year. It will be Dawson's first Christmas and we got some cute 'first christmas' pj's. What else do you get a 3 month old baby??
This is our Christmas Tree. J.D.'s family has a tradition that every year, the saturday after Thanksgiving we up in the mountains and get Christmas trees. It is so fun! Then we eat turkey sandwhiches and have hot chocolate afterwards. J.D. found such a good tree this year! We even took Dawson up and he loved it. (He loves being outside) We found out that J.D. has always had a star on there family's tree growing up, and I have always had an angel. .. We decided to do an angel this year. It's interesting the different traditions in each family. Maybe we will do a star next year.
My favorite part of Christmas is waking up really early when it's still way dark outside, Santa has already come, and then sitting there just looking at the tree all lit up with sparkling presents underneath. And then we would get our stockings down and dump them out and just eat candy. It was so quiet and it seemed so magical. Dawson wakes up usually around 5 ready to eat, and J.D. gets home around 5:30am... So we just turn on the lights and sit there. I love christmas!

Super Mom!

This past week I started watching my nephew Carson while Jori goes to work. It has been such a good experience for me. I love spending time with him. It's been tricky having 2 boys to take care of, especially since Dawson is still breastfeeding and Carson is only 13 months. I think that this is so good for me and will help prepare me for a 2nd little on of our own.
Each day I try to take the boys for a walk to get fresh air. It's still not too cold to go out and do this. Since Carson can't walk and Dawson is too small to carry on my back I had to improvise.... hahaha! I pushed Dawson in the stroller and packed Carson on my back... Those of you who have seen Carson know that he is a big boy... we are talkin' 97%tile with weight, and heighth. :) It's a workout but its good in every way!

Dawson's Blessing Day

This Sunday J.D. blessed Dawson. It was so beautiful, and sweet. He did such a great job and it was so neat to see J.D. be able to bless him. I'm so blessed to have such an amazing, worthy priesthood holder for eternity. I love knowing that the spirit is right there guiding the words of the blessing. We had so many people that came and supported Dawson. Most had to travel and knowing that meant so much to us. Thank you to all who traveled! I hope everyone made it home safe. After the blessing J.D. and i just sat through the rest of church looking at eachother and Dawson. We had some pretty neat thoughts today.
Afterwards we had a luncheon and it was so much fun. It was so nice to visit and just relax. Everything went so well!
This is our family. Dawson had the most handsome tuxedo on! It had a cummer band, bowtie, and tails on his coat! He was lookin mighty fine!
This is Grandma and Grandpa Stevens with us.

This is Grandma and Grandpa Shelley with us

Here is everybody that stood in the circle. From Left to Right it is Jefferson Coats (J.D.'s highschool buddy), Alan Richardson (Jenny's sister in law's dad.), Chet(J.D. bro), Grandpa Stevens, J.D & Dawson, Andy Alldredge (my best friend growing up) Alan Alldredge, (andy's dad), Lucas(J.D. bro), and choc (my bro). The only person missing that was there was J.D.'s best friend and mission comp Todd Evertsen.
Dawson sure has a lot of people who love him!

Thanksgiving!

This Thanksgiving we spent it with the Shelley side. It was very interesting, only because I was the one cooking. The only thing I didn't cook was the pies and corn. I was in charge of taking out a pie though which ended up burnt because I left it in too long. Growing up I always saw my mom cooking and slaving away all day for thanksgiving... I must have missed something because it doesn't take that long. The turkey didn't get done in time because we put it in too late, so we had a turkeyless thanksgiving. I did the mashed potatoes too early, so I was having to microwave them until they were warm again. The stuffing and gravy were good except I didn't cook enough. The rolls didn't get done until we were half way through eating... what else could go wrong.. Well, nothing.. I learned whether it's good or bad, on time or not on time, everyone just eats and enjoys it. And in the end all the food does get eating in the next couple of days anyways. I was so worried and worked up over nothing. :) It was my first time cooking it, and it was fun. We all have to learn someway right???

Pheonix, Zoo, & Hoover Dam

This weekend my grandma was throwing my grandpa a suprise party. We didn't really suprise him .. it was just a party. (He might of died if we would have suprised him...:) Anywho, it was so nice to see so much family. On Saturday night we went to swimming. It was so fun to finally swim and sit in a hot tub... I haven't sat in one since before I got pregnant, so you can imagine the excitement. Then on Sunday we went to the zoo! That was just a blast. It was so much fun to be with the kids there. They make things so much more exciting. On Monday we drove back and we drove the vegas way. We saw Hoover Dam... It was just amazing seeing the construction. It's a much better looking dam than the Lake powell one. We had never seen Hoover Dam until then and it was worth the drive.

At the zoo there was a petting zoo at the end of it. The kids had a blast! My nephew Carson is as tall as the goat! The goat just jumped right up on him.. Carson loved it!
Carson and 2 baby goats. He loves animals and couldn't get enough of these 2.

More kids and more animals. They were in there glory!
I don't know of how many of you have ever fed a giraffe.. there tongues are so freaking long! It was so slobbery too!
It's Pumba from Lion King! I will say he's better looking in the movie... :)
We loved seeing the camels. They really are not very neat eaters... It was very cool to actually see the humps in real life
Zebra's! What if our skin was striped like that???
This was my first time seeing a flamingo... and how lucky to catch some of them sleeping. How can they do that? I tried it and there is no way I could be that still, or better yet sleep like that. They should be ballerinas
Once again a first seeing a rhino! My good friend Brie posted a pic a while back of us doing the rhino dance when we were young... This reminded me of that. There foot is like the hood of a car! They are so massive! The horn was so amazing.
This was probably my favorite. I love monkeys! This was a baby monkey swinging on his tail. It was so adorable. I wish we could of held him.
Here's my a few nieces and nephews. James, Layne, Rylee and Jessi.. behind them is a white tiger! He was pacing the fence... my sister jori got a branch and tried to poke it.. oh wow, he didn't like it at all and tried to eat it!!!!! haha! What a sucker..
This is construction on Hoover Dam. Bridges really amaze me. I can't believe the things that men can build. How they do it is just incredible!

Shots...

Today was Dawson's 2 month old check-up with the Doctor. I really love his doctor because of how informative he is, and you can really tell he cares. Any concern we have or question, he addresses it with care and checks Dawson to make sure he's okay. His weight was 11 lbs 9 oz.-and in the 48%, Length is 23 inches- in the 55 %, and head his in the 40%... The doctor commented on his development mentally too. Dawson has been making so many noises! He will talk for 20 minutes straight and smiles a ton! It's definately rewarding to have him play with us after sleepless nights. :) At the end of the check-up the doctor says, "Well, he is going to get 3 shots today." I kind of made a sad face. Then he continued, "Ya .. we usually wait to tell moms about the shots until the end of the check-up. . . they are the ones that have the hardest time." Needless to say, it was true for me. I just wanted to take the shots for him, but he really did good. He definitely cried for a bit, but he calmed down really quick. I'm really glad he won't remember it.... I will though. I should probably buck up and just get over it like him.. :)

Pet Peeves

I really do love blogs, but I must say that its very tempting to make our blog private. I think thats what I'm going to do for one reason... People that you don't even know commenting not nice things on your blog. I changed the comment setting so I could read them and decide to post them or not. I'm really glad I did because just today I got another comment that was way out of line. I love hearing from people I know and seeing their blogs. It's so nice to be able to hear of fun updates of old friends, new friends, and family. I feel like it's a way to stay in touch and keep being friends when you don't get to see each other very often. We all blog to let others know what's going on and to share exciting things.
I don't mind if people I don't know comment nice things, or look at the blog... it's the ones that you don't know who comment mean, out of line, rude comments that ruin it. Blogging is meant to be fun, not for putting down others. So for this reason I'm setting my blog to private... sorry to make it an inconvenience for anyone, but I was really hurt by this person. So please comment your email addresses before Thanksgiving and that way I will add you so you can still read the fun updates. Thank you!

Sleep... :)

Well, I have some pretty awesome news... Dawson fell asleep at 6pm last night. I decided to just fall asleep too because lately I haven't been getting sleep as many of you who have children have experienced.. :) He slept until 11:00pm and he ate, then fell right back asleep again until 4 in the morning! I couldn't believe the time when I woke up! I felt so blessed and rested. He did stay awake for a bit after that, but I didn't mind because I was feeling so good and happy that he slept for so long. Today he slept quite a bit more.. so i don't know if tonight will be the same, but what night is ever the same right? He is getting so big and making so many fun noises. Each day he seems to notice more and more about his voice and the noises he can make. It is so much fun and so dang cute!

Happy Halloween!

Well this year we had a get together at our house. We had crepes for dinner and then watched a movie. We had so much fun answering the door for trick or treaters and also it was so fun to mingle with everyone.
This is our good friend Tim Stevens. (somehow he is related to us) He was a good highlight of the night as you can see! He a darling girl!
This is my sister Jori and her son Carson! She did dress up later that night, but i forgot to get a picture. She was Paris Hilton, and man oh man did she look like her! :)
And here is HOT ROD! This is our friend Jefferson as Hot Rod! He rode by on a scooter too!!! It was hilarious! There is video footage down below! It was so freakin funny!
Here is the little tiger Carson! He was such a cute tiger! He even went trick or treating and it was so sweet! He caught on very quick! You knock and get candy... next door!
And here are the best buds ever! Carson and Dawson! We dressed him up as a clown! He was such a sweet little clown all night. They are such good lookin boys!
This is our footage we got of the almight Hot Rod! If you've ever seen the movie this will make you laugh!

Sweet Cousins

I went to Kanab for tuesday night and wednesday day to help out my sister Amy. Her kids are so sweet and loving. The whole time me and Dawson were spoiled with hugs and kisses and a lot of help. They all wanted to just hold him and play with him. It was so cute! This is Rylee and anytime she was holding Dawson she would say, Jenny will you take a picture with me and him? So I did.
The kids were playing with him all the time and he kept giving them funny faces. I caught one here! I can't quite get what he's trying to say here... haha

Tubby Time

This is our sweet little Dawson after a nice warm bath. He loves to take baths! He just calms right down. He has a little tub that I wash him in and while he sits in that I let the water keep running in his tub and it drains off the sides. So he will stretch out his legs let the water run between his toes! It's so cute!

J.D. got a DEER!

Yes he did! He got a 2 by 3 pt. It was his FIRST time even shooting at a deer and he got it! What a good shot I'll say. I have told J.D. since we've been married that I'm a good luck charm when it comes to hunting. Anytime I go, we always get a deer... so far anyways.. :) And last year I didn't go, no deer. This year he'd been out Friday, Saturday, and then Sunday night I finally went for a couple hours and he got one! Hurray for my hunners!

Here is the 2 deer shot this year in the Stevens family!

This is the whole thing! J.D. says it's small...but it's still way cool
And here is my hunter all bloody from gutting and cleaning the sucker... it was freakin sick!

And this is all of us who were able to make it to the camp -hunt trip this year! What a fine lookin bunch of people I'll say.

Being Prepared

Recently in our sacrament meeting for church we had speakers talk on emergency preparedness.. Yesterday I received this email from our friends and made me really think about being prepared. Its always been something I knew I should be better at and slowly we are getting a food storage and other necessities, but nothing that would last more than a month so far.. I had made it a goal to start putting one together since the meeting in church, but it's been a slow progress.
They always have talks on being prepared, but then you never hear anything about having to use it anytime soon... well, this email really stuck out to me and I really don't think it's just chance that the being prepared has been a huge topic of discussion more and more AND then all the things we've heard about the bird flu AND then receiving this email. I just thought it might interest some of you.

I received this from an LDS friend.

See attached article explaining a recent talk given by the head of the Center for Disease Control on the expected coming pandemic...

I went to a seminar about a month ago put on by the Church of Jesus Christ, Latter Day Saints. Dr. Susan Puls, who is a cardiologist and who was appointed by the first presidency of the church as the head of the church's pandemic committee, spoke. She said she was not an expert on pandemics as this was not her speciality, but in the two years she's been in her position, is fast becoming one. She now works for the church on a full-time basis working on planning for the pandemic and trying to get the word out to as many church members as possible. There were about 1400 people at the Saturday all-day seminar I attended - they were from Idaho down to St. George, Utah.

In her capacity, she works with the governors pandemic committee and the federal pandemic planning agency.

She also said a pandemic is coming - not 'maybe' but is DEFINITELY coming.

She says the pandemic is expected within the next two years but she personally belives it will be 'sooner rather than later.' The various groups (CDC, WHO, etc..) do not know what the pandemic will be but 'first among their list of suspects is the avian bird flu. It's only one mutation away from being easily transmitted from birds to humans and from human to human.'

She said the World Health Organization expects 40% of the world population to become sick. Of those who become sick, they expect 50% will die. You do the math - there are over 6 billion people on the earth today - that puts the death rate at over 1.4 billion people - and she says these deaths will happen over only a 3 to 4 month period of time.

Dr. Puls related that when the pandemic hits the US, mandatory quarantine's of all infected and NON-INFECTED peoples will occur within the first 48 hours. Only emergency personnel (Dr's, nurses, firemen, police, national guardsmen, etc..) will be allowed to leave their homes - not even to go to the store, etc.. This quarantine will last during the duration of the 'pandemic cycle' which will last approximately three months.

Her main point was that everyone will need a MINIMUM of 3 months supply of food at home as the governments of the world will be overwhelmed within the first week and cannot be counted on to provide food, medical help, etc..

She only briefly spoke on the 'social disruption' that will occur and did not go into any detail about what plans may, or may not exist, to deal with this. However - think about this - if your neighbors (both those you know and strangers) run out of food and are starving how might they react? Then think of all the individuals who already live outside of the law and are only 'controlled' by our current legal system. How might they react when law enforcement becomes innefectual due to illness among the ranks and those who abandon their jobs to stay home and protect their own families. Ditto for the national guard and our own military.

Anyway, this isn't to scare anyone - just to provide a 'heads up' as 'to be forewarned is to be forearmed.'

Good Times!

This weekend my sister Jori, her son Carson, and my mom came over on Saturday. We went up on Cedar Mountain ..and it was snowing for the first time! We took some pictures so we could remember Dawson's first snow day-October 11th! I'm sure I won't remember to do all the 'firsts' with the other children we may have (I will try).. but for now I can do them with Dawson since he's the only one of course. :)Here's our family!
Mommy and Dawson
Daddy and Dawson
And here's Grammy with what she calls her 'big bug'(Carson-Jori's son) and 'little bug.'(Dawson)
:)

This is my nephew Carson playing catch with his mom (Jori). I thought it was so cute to see him squeal and clap over throwing the football, so I decided to post it and let everyone join the fun!

Good Times with Mom and Dad

When J.D. gets home he studies for a few hours, or whatever he can spare and then goes to bed. I desperately wanted to shower, so J.D. watched Dawson while I did so. When I was done, this is what I came out to find. I thought it was so cute! J.D. is studying with Dawson.. and you can see how interesting Dawson finds it. (I'd be asleep too...)
Dawson loves to be held sitting up. He loves looking around... or at least he tries because I don't think he can see yet... maybe he can and is fooling us all. I turned on the Incredibles for J.D. and he loved it! He just sat with me in silence while the movie was going for a good 20 min! He gets loving the Incredibles from his dad and you have read before.. :)

Hair-Do's!

While Grandma Stevens was here, she helped me learn a new way to give Dawson a bath so he won't cry so much. It was a success too! Afterwards we decided to play hair dressers and these are some of the ways we did Dawson's hair. I love that he has hair to play with... ahaha!
