New Years

This year for New Years we were up in Holden. It was so nice to go up and spend the whole weekend with J.D.'s family. We finished our Christmas present to Lucas and Molly (that's who we had for Christmas this year).

It turned out AMAZING! All by hand, except the seat. The seat was originally a banged up broken futon we found on the streets of good ole Cedar City. We did a huge transformation with it, but it saved us so much money not having to by lumber for that part. So believe it or not, we didn't buy any of the wood to build this thing, and only purchased nuts, bolts, washers, clips, and cable. Not bad for how awesome this thing turned out. We still have 1 more coat of finish to put on.

Dawson was in his glory- Holden is his favorite place on earth. He loves his cousins and the fact that he can run and play outside as much as he wants without worrying about anything. Dawson chases the kitties, helps us catch the horses to ride or just pet, run to Great Grandma Stevens' to get candy, play and run all day outside with cousins, and just be a normal kid. Where we live now, there's a busy busy road in front of our door, so he can't just run free without mom or dad with him. It's just not the same, not even close. One day we will have a back yard....one day... lol!

We played Phase 10 for about 3 hours until the clock struck midnight for the first time in 2012. We all stayed up, even little Dawson. We were SOOO tired, so following 5 minutes in the new year, we all went straight to bed.

The next day was Dawson's first Sunday as a sunbeam! I was pretty nervous because Dawson has always had J.D. and I as his teachers for nursery. However, Dawson had a neat experience because his Grandma got to be his teacher! J.D.'s mom had just gotten the calling of the new sunbeam teacher. Grandma said that Dawson wasn't happy to be there, but he didn't cry. After we picked him up, he asked me, "Where are the toys mom? I need to play with the toys." I replied, "There are no more toys.... you're a big boy now." Dawson, "Oh...." So needless to say, this Sunday will be interesting to see how he truly reacts with no one around that he knows. I wanted to cry because it was just a reality check that he's growing up.

When it was time to leave, Dawson just cried. He didn't want to leave Grandma's house. And for the next couple of days, Dawson just asked to play with his cousins. :-( Can't wait til we go back again.
