Dawson Turns 5!

This year Dawson really didn't have many friends up here in Orem yet so we did a little birthday cake and presents with Chet, Bobi Sue, Taylee, Kyson, and Brielle. We decided Dawson needed to have something ON his birthday.... so here are the events of that day.
We woke up about 7 and I said, "Dawson, Happy Birthday" really quietly just in case he wasn't awake yet. He popped up and said, "It's my birthday?! Today!?" I said, "Yep!" Then Dawson laid back down straight as an arrow and said, "Oh my gosh! I totally grew! I'm so much bigger now that I'm 5!!" J.D. and I busted up laughing! It was such a good morning! Then we headed to the store to pick out a cake for him that day. We also let him open his big present from J.D. and I.....

He got a huge Thomas the Train set with tons of electronic Thomas trains! He was SO excited and waited patiently for 10 hours for J.D. to get home to open it. We didn't get to set it up until late that night because we wanted to go party with Chet and Bobi Sue, so we headed over to their house for cake and ice cream.
He picked out a Scooby Doo cake at the store and was so excited to eat it! Then Chet and his family gave Dawson some awesome books that Dawson had us read all of them that night. He has been so sick of reading the books we have over and over again, it was a perfect gift! Thanks Chet and Bobi Sue!

Then we decided Dawson to have his big birthday party with friends in Holden since we still have been going to their so much. Dawson considers all his friends the ones who live in Holden.  Every kid we invited came, plus his teachers from Cedar City, my mom, my brother Matt, and J.D.'s family that lives in Holden. The friends... well not one of them was Dawson's age. There was 2 year olds to 15 year olds. Literally, he sent an invite to kids of all ages, BUT to be honest they were all the kids that he knew and played with. Everyone was so excited, and the 14 year olds even loved it. He wanted a Rootbeer party/pirate party. This kid loves pirates so I am not suprised he wanted pirates 2 years in a row.
Here are some of the many guests.

His face was pretty much like this for every gift he opened. lol!
Dawson was very specific on the rootbeer had to have... the IBC rootbeer. He's got good taste! Then we had rootbeer cupcakes (a recipe I found on the internet that turned out to be sooo divine). We also had ice cream for rootbeer floats. We played rootbeer bowling, which included 10 2 liter bottles of rootbeer as the pins. We were going to do a ring toss, but Dawson wanted a treasure hunt instead. So I came up with all the clues, treasure map, and treasure for the hunt.
We also had a pirates of the carribbean pinyata!
He got so many awesome gifts which some are posted below, and one that we had to blow up and play with right then! THANK YOU DOUG AND MEGAN (teachers as Dawson calls them)
He got camo from Uncle Choc....
Imaginext Bat Cave from Grandma Shelley...

and last, but not least he got a fencing sword and bow & arrow from J.D. and I. This is something he has asked for, for the entire summer...

Thank you to everyone who came and all the awesome gifts! He was spoiled and it was truly one of the happiest days of his life.
